Sunshine-y Peckham trio Beaty Heart’s tune ‘Seafood’ is an upbeat summer ditty singing the praises of all things seaside, with clattering drums and a sweet falsetto pop melody. In the hands of Abeano’s own Eyedress, though, it takes a characteristically darker turn: less a frolic on a packed seafront, more a bracing walk alone at sunset when the tide is out. What was once a bustling rhythm becomes a far-out metallic sigh, with vocals swamped in distortion and wilting synths. Hear it first here.
You can stream Beaty Heart’s debut album Mixed Blessings on their Soundcloud now. And f Eyedress’s sad-eyed, sinister pop is your thing, don’t forget to also check his lush collaborative mixtape with Miami rapper Lofty305, premiered on Abeano last week.
