I realise I have neglected my blogging duties this last week and I will try and rectify this situation right now with a HEATROCK for your i-pod (I believe that’s what they call them these days).
Drake ‘Best I Ever Had’ manages to feature lots of autotune, yet still sound totally likeable. Summer banger in fact. This is in no small part to the “You’re the fucking best†chorus which looks proper thug written down but manages to sound really quite sweet. On the subject of lyrics, ‘Best I Ever Had’ also contains one of the most memorably disgusting lyrics in a while “She call me the referee cos I be so official/My shirt ain’t got no stripes but I can make her pussy whistle”.
The only thing that lets the track down is the video, which looks like what The Benny Hill Show would do if it was adapted by MTV Base tommorow. Unless Drake is some kind of ironic genius. I shouted “Out-bloody-rageous†at the screen within 18 seconds – see how long you last (the screen grab gives you a clue as to what you can expect).
