Seams man James Welch has just graduated from university with a 1:1, so we’re imagining this new single is a kind of celebration of being super clever as well as being pretty darn good at making music. ‘Focus Energy’ and ‘Motive Order’ receive top marks from us, all glitchy hip-shaking that bring the flashing lights and stifled, sweaty air of the club to life – the latter a cloak of noise to its neighbour’s measured and minimal approach.
