Swizz Beats feat. A$AP Rocky – Street Knock

Posted on by Rhian Artist: /

Swizz Beats gets fast and furious in the new video for ‘Street Knocks’, produced by AraabMuzik and featuring a guest spot from Harlem’s hottest A$AP Rocky. The clip’s not all about zooming through the city in fast cars though; it also takes in a Reebok-hatted drum section, basketball and “chicks from Venus” (sweet, as Venus X makes an appearance). At one point A$AP boasts “goddamnit I’m a genius”, but we’d say that claim belongs to video director TAJ_TPK.

‘Street Knocks’ is taken from Swizz Beats’ forthcoming mixtape Limitless.

VÅR – In Your Arms

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

The Sexdrome / Iceage love in just got a whole lot more sexy, with a name change and a new video for Sacred Bones compilation track ‘In Your Arms’. Since swapping their name to VÅR (Means Spring) from War, Elias Bender Rønnenfelt and Loke Rahbek have found inspiration in a new place; their friend Louis Toro. “Toro is the best living image of what we try to achieve with our music,” says Loke of their friend who moved to Peru when they were younger (to become a stripper). ”After years of being apart, it was obvious that we needed him in everything [VÅR] will do from this day onward.” Elias added “In a sense Toro is VÅR more than we can ever be. We both kind of fell in love with him.” To demonstrate that love, the video features plenty of pumping tattooed muscles.

VÅR’s album will be out on Sacred Bones next year.

Gang Colours – To Repel Ghosts

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Will Ozanne aka Gang Colours is to release another single from his recent Brownswood LP The Keychain Collection later this month. Pretty sure it’s about repelling your inner ghosts and demons (unless the dead really are spooked by minimal electronica with a bit of piano?) with his smooth, sad vocal making an appearance half way though and stealing the show. To Repel Ghosts is out on May 28th 2012 backed by remixes from George Fitzgerald, Stray and Troy Gunner. Listen below.

Melody’s Echo Chamber – Crystallized

Posted on by Rhian Artist:

The debut track from Paris-based Melody’s Echo Chamber, ‘Crystallized’ is a sharp shock of fizzing psychedelia that’s as transfixing as it is visceral. Recorded with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, it’s a record of juxtapositions; positing Melody Prochet’s sweet, Gallic hushes in the midst of a storm of furious, fuzzed out guitars.

Melody’s Echo Chamber support Pond at Cargo on May 22nd.

Four Tet – Jupiters / Brixton All Nighter

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Good news for fans of Four Tet and Parties because there are two bits of ‘Tet gossip today. First up, this new track Jupiters, the next single on TEXT records (the last minute is best) and secondly, an all night event with Caribou at Brixton Academy in… November. Tickets are only £6.60 including booking fee though and there are guests TBC so we reckon it’s worth a punt right now. The B-side to Jupiters is also available to hear online thanks to whoever ripped it from Gilles Peterson’s radio show.

Grimes – Live Session

Posted on by sian Artist:

Grimes plays a date at London’s XOYO tomorrow night so we’re revisiting her recent visit to Lauren Laverne’s 6 Music show. The first artist to play on the studio floor (congrats!) she played two songs, Genesis and a reworked version of Vanessa, and spoke about her ambitions. “Um, I would just like to be part of the cultural dialogue and would like to be remembered” she said.

Genesis is “about nostalgia for previous experiences” she explains “I grew up in a really Catholic environment and when I was a kid I really did love going to church! There was this huge room and gruesome macabre images everywhere… it was so intense. Then I hit puberty and was like ‘screw this’ for you know, various reasons. It sucked, I realised life wasn’t as surreal and psychedelic as I thought. Even when I was a religious person though, music was a huge part of that. One of the reasons I was into it was that I loved singing and still a lot of my favourite music is hymnal or choral.”

débruit – From The Horizon

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

A few of the people we follow on twitter have been going crazy for this new album from débruit so this sampler from the style-mixing record couldn’t have come at a better time. The culmination of 3 years work matching clips from old African VHS tapes and new drum patterns, there’s a lot to handle, but it’s easy to hear why fans are getting hyped. “I like it when electronic music and instruments lose control of what they’re meant to do” he says of the record.

From the Horizon is out June 4th via Civil Music. débruit plays the boiler room today between 7pm and 11pm.

To make sure we know that Girl Unit’s new EP is out this week (it is!) Night Slugs have released a new ‘Club Rez’ trailer. With art direction from G.U and Slugs head Alex Sushon, it goes deeper into the album artwork with a glowing blue alien vibe. Is that where Slugs breed new artists? Tracks from the EP have been have been appearing in plenty of mixes over the last few weeks, including lead track Club Rez, which is available to preview as a radio rip below. Go buy it though, right?

Bullion – Love Me Oh Please Love Me

Posted on by sian Artist:

Bullion isn’t being subtle about what he wants you to think about this brand new EP. That or he’s a desperate for a bit of action. Luckily there’s plenty to get down with here, from the slinky It’s All In Sound and a wobbly cover of Robert Wyatt’s 1984 single The Age Of Self (still true) to the electronic slow-dance jam of ‘Collision’ and arsewobbling psychy instrumental (Family). If you’re looking to dive straight in though, Save Your Lubb is our current favourite. You could say we ‘lubb’ it.

Love Me Oh Please Love Me is out next week via Deek Records
