Emerging midway through 2011 from an almost legendary Liverpudlian mansion shared with other bands and ‘creative’ types, Outfit immediately set about wooing us all with shadowy takes on early Franz Ferdinand and claims of being influenced (at least partially) by post-www identity and floating guitars. That I’ve been anticipating the follow up to their debut single ‘Two Islands’ since, its release says something about the impression they’ve already made and they don’t look to be about to weaken that any time soon.
Next single ‘Dashing In Passing’ finds Outfit leaving the murky atmospherics of previous tracks behind and stepping into a dream world that’s part R&B slow jam, part psychedelic wonder. Singing softly over cushions of shimmering synths and twinkling guitars, they sigh “I wasted all my time believing everyone else was different”. Who knew stealing hearts could sound this effortless?
‘Dashing In Passing’ is available on iTunes on Feb 13th or bandcamp now, and is taken from the EP Another Night’s Dreams Reach Earth Again, due in April via The Sounds Of Sweet Nothing. Catch Outfit live this month and beyond at the following dates:
