Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Mathemagic have been on our radar since last year with the ghostly, lightheaded songs drifting from Toronto’s ethereal Evan Euteneier and into our mortal membranes. It’s a lesson in loopy wonderment, flickers and dimension bending phantasmagoria with spooky guitar loops and leaden beats rolling about like awkward bedfellows. Soft synthy touches bond with the vulnerable coolness of Evan’s vocals and wash over us like a remedying breeze before we overcharge our brains into a star collapsing coma. Mathemagical delights ‘High’ and ‘Breaststroke’ are a double whammy of delights that like early song’s ‘Beach Days’ and ‘Always Will Be’, whisper with that soul massaging essence we fell in love with, letting out cleaner beats and strange distant echo’s that draw you into a deep vision of paradise. PURE JOY.
