Kurt Vile went on a whirlwind tour of London yesterday, playing a session for BBC 6 Music, a Rough Trade instore and his own headline set at Corsica studios. Dude must be made of strong stuff because, despite the jetlag, he absolutely stormed it all. In a very sweaty South London, tracks like Jesus Fever from most recent LP ‘Smoke Ring For My Halo’ sounded huge and songs from his previous three releases, even opener Hunchback, showed just how hard they can rock out . After ending on a couple of pared back solo tracks that showcased just what an awesome player he is and a rattling version of Freak Train (loved the Violators member on Sax) the crowd still wanted more. But don’t worry too much if you missed him this time, Kurt and band are back in September for a headline show at The Scala.
