On their second LP, Floridian group Holiday Shores have moved on from just making (great) shambolic summer pop. Just as ‘seaside-dreamin’ feels done to death (to be fair, frontman Nathan Pemberton took the name from the beach town where he grew up) on New Masses For Squaw Peak they show they’ve got a new found assurance when it comes to writing slower, more measured tunes. Case in point is the first track to be released, ‘Spells’. Barbershop oohs, tricky noodling guitar and inspirational lyrics about shooting for the top sharpen up a tropical twist on Studio 54 disco. We love it and think you will too so download it here or listen below. ‘New Masses For Squaw Peak’ is out on Half Machine Records in the UK on October 17th
