Airick Woodhead aka Doldrums returns with this new cut from the forthcoming ‘Egypt’ 12″ and – whaddaya know – it’s as glorious a psychedelic wigout as you might expect. It starts of simply enough, sure, but as layers get added things get progressively weirder and harder to follow. If it weren’t for Airick’s velvet voice pinning everything together and the fact it sounds exactly like we imagine the inside of his head to be, it’d be ridiculously confusing. As it is, there’s something about it that just works.

‘Egypt’ is released on June 4th via Souterrain Transmissions.

Cube-music releasing clever arse Nicholas Jaar and his guitarist Dave Harrington released this as Darkside in November last year, but we couldn’t resist revisiting it thanks to this new Pomp & Clout video. Set in the desert, it follows what looks like a crew of Jedis fallen on hard times. Watch below.

We’ve seen Friends slinking around city streets and generally being super cool in their previous videos for this clip for ‘Mind Control’, they’ve gone for something a little different. Paying homage to sci-fi movies, there’s plenty of futuristic effects and a tongue-in-cheek air to the video. Keep an eye out (or not, if you’re easily grossed out) towards the end for Samantha Urbani’s mouth taking the place of people’s eyes. Totally weird.

Following on from the satirical video for ‘Gee Up’, Adam Bainbridge is moving into more intellectual spheres with this clip for ‘House’. Opening with him theorizing about “the kids” (anyone between the age of 8 and 25, FYI) and music, he then goes on to teach a child how he made the song. It’s full of genuinely funny moments but our favourite bit has got to be when Adam declares “We could both be Prince!”

Three bits of good news this morning. 1. According to XLR8R, Trim is starting work on a full length debut with Rinse FM. Can’t wait. 2. Before that he’s jumped on Marco Giuliani aka Last Japan’s (pictured) latest release ‘East’. The London producer, who we last heard on the Ambush EP, goes in hard here, blending funky, house and grime to make hyped beats that work perfectly with the former Roll Deep member’s loose storytelling 3. You can download lead track ‘East’ for free.

Things are going the opposite of Pete Tong for London duo Disclosure (whay!) but they still let the DJ premiere another track from their forthcoming Greco-Roman EP on Friday night. It’s a bubbling mix of garage, R&B and pop that’s dropped just in time for summer whether you’re in Ibiza, at Reading or in your mates back garden necking tins and trying not to burn the sausages.
