Fanzine – I Wanna Touch Your Hand

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Consider, for a minute, the Fanzine. Despite the fact it was originally a science fiction thing (big up the nerds), it has come to mean the height of music obsessive fandom to some. The US gave us Crawdaddy, the Lester Bangs featuring Who Put the Bomp, Backstreets Magazine, the list is long. Today places like Needles & Pens in San Francisco will serve all your zine needs. In the UK, there was Deptford’s own Sniffin Glue, Burnt Offering, Love and Molotov Cocktails and Grim Humour. This shop in Manchester is a good starting place, today selling a mixture of fiddly art/music publications.

The link here is that Fanzine are also a band from London, whose fuzzily-good track Susan I first heard last June. After a couple of live shows however, they sadly disappeared. Until now. Vibing like only boys-dressed-in-plaid can, on a influence trip of grunge and slackerpop, new track ‘I Wanna Touch Your Hand’ is a great buzz of a tune about the first throes of summer love (or creepily touching the object of your affection, you decide).

Fanzine play The Lexington with Unknown Mortal Orchestra on 5th July. They play Nouveau Casino in Paris w/Yuck and UMO on 7th July. As a special treat they’ve also made their own fanzine, featuring aliens with bounty’s on their heads (LOL) and a Clapton superhero ‘ The Chronic Warrior). Download it here.
