The freaking weird thoughts flapping around in Connan Hosford‘s, aka Connan Mockasin’s (yep, since you last saw him he’s dropped ‘and the’ plus a few bandmates), debut album Turn Me Into The Snat don’t end here. The video for single ‘It’s Choade My Dear’ is a trip down a river of seaweed soup, featuring Connan lying in a pool of lemons, donning gold gloves and lemon-slice sunglasses. Sonically it’s equally mind-bending, with Connan gently slipping a helium canister down his gullet and releasing munchkin slurs over opium-coated Air electronics. It’s near nonsense and it’s utterly mesmerising.
And you know the most bizarre but wonderful part of all? The New Zealander is the latest addition to Erol Alkan’s Phantasy label. Show us a snat after finding out all of that we wouldn’t even blink.
