If you’re looking for an Active Child post today keep clear, this is balls to the wall stuff: all fuzz, noise and invigorating, earsplitting energy. This is Weekend, four guys from San Francisco that blaze through walls of feedback, cranking up doom and despair in four minute breakdowns that steer out of control into savage freak-outs. Fader described them as “if No Age traded in good vibes and instead got real angry” which sounds pretty accurate if you look at ‘Youth Haunts’. This track mounts their ability to create sweet melodies that make their sound durable, filtered through dislocated shoegazey fuzzes. Think along the lines of a West Coast Jesus & The Mary Chain in a TGIF praise-be of primitive distortion.
