Have you seen The Night Porter? I’m a bit loathe to admit it was one of those films an ex and I used to watch to – erm – get in the mood? Anyway, it’s dark. Tests the boundaries and understanding of passion and love. And thus what a fitting source of inspiration for Better than Love the latest video from HURTS, right? An uplifting trance and dance-inducing bit of electronic pop set to — the creepiest display of ballet fetish since, well, The Night Porter. (Mind you, this inspiration is merely assumed at this point – I’d love to have a word with the band for confirmation. Seriously – c’mere boys). See, I’m head over heels in love with this band. Every video they’ve released (that would be ‘Wonderful Life’, ‘Blood, Tears and Gold’ and now this) has been served up on wry. Tongues in cheeks with impeccable style. You sense the mischief beneath the moody facade and it is just so delightfully evil and playful and sexy and… yeah, ok… I need a minute. Watch this now.
